Natural Slug and Snail Deterrent

Slugs and snails can munch their way through lots of our plants but slug pellets are not the answer. Slug pellets are pieces of cereal soaked in metaldehyde or methiocarb which act as bait, attracting the slugs with a free feed and then poisoning them. Birds and other creatures which eat slugs such as hedgehogs and frogs, may also be harmed if they eat a slug which has been feeding on the bait. Although the dose required to kill a slug is many times smaller than that to kill a hedgehog, over time the same hedgehog can eat a very large number of slugs!
So what are the eco alternatives? Crushed egg shells are a great way to prevent slugs and snails from reaching the plants. They don’t like to climb over the sharp broken shells. If you have a big garden and require more then just egg shells than try Eco-Charlie Natural Slug and Snail Deterrent. It is made from 100% Recycled and 100% Natural Ceramic shards which were once baths, sinks, toilets, tiles or anything else made from natural ceramic.
